~ Water Colors ~

I often reserve my Saturday morning for exploring the local landscape and seascape.  Last Saturday I went down to "The Strands" at Dana Point.  I was so, so delighted to find that the sidewalk alone was worthy of the time that I spent.
Get a load of these waves!

And fish!

And crabs!
Oh, I was definitely not feelin' crabby.

Because, for starters ... this was my view.

And this ...

And this ...

And on closer inspection ... this!

This is my palette: turquoise + ocean blues + a touch of pink.

What's your palette??

~ Color Day: TURQUOISE ~

The color turquoise did not make a statement in my home until I moved into this house. My proximity to the sea pretty much demands it. As does my Guest Bathroom ...

My Studio ...

The Master Bath ...

The Kitchen ...

And the Living Room.

Turquoise washed into my house on a frothy little wave.

Pretty soon I'll be able to surf on it.

~ Trees n' Shells ~

I have several small trees scattered around my house. This was one small advantage to moving someplace smaller. My decorations no longer fit in the rooms they used to fit in ... and now I get to enjoy them upstairs too. I love this little white feather tree on my dresser. I'm not gonna lie to you ... it's fake.

To make up for that I have some very real and wonderful pieces of nature on the dresser as well ... to sort of balance out the fake.

When I lived in Arizona, seashells represented vacation time. Now they represent ... home.

Another little tree in my bedroom with a dusting of fake snow. Today is rainy and cold and cozy. I'm thinking that snow seems very real indeed.

This guy in my guest room is actually a companion piece to one of my Santas. I hope they don't mind that I split them up this year.

This tree in the guest bathroom is also offset by a bowl full of shells.

I am loving all the turquoise that seems right at home with my Christmas decorations this year.

Mostly I am loving Christmas this year.

~ The Off Season ~

This little corner of my bathroom gets the most attention when I stand in my bathtub to adjust the shutters. Let's face it ... I'm a shower kind of gal. However I still thought it was the perfect place to display these beautiful ... unusually turquoise ... mercury glass candle holders.

I would like to say that I bought them in some cute, out-of-the-way antique shop or boutique. Oh no. I bought them at Target and I bought them just a few days before Christmas at a whopping discount. I'm sorry ... I did not hear "ho ho ho" when I saw them, it was more like "splish splash, I am takin' a bath."

So, let's vote: Bath or Shower? Which floats your boat?
